Re-united bands that should've stayed broken up

You ever get excited for a band that you loved that's getting back together and then they do and it's just the bass player and some other guys. That's a gyp! Why does anyone care about the bass player at all! The worse thing is if it's the just the original drummer and some other guys, people care less about the drummer! If it's the original singer and some other guys than it could work. I mean Motorhead has always been Lemmy and some other guys(but it would be so awesome if the Ace of Spades line-up got back together). You can imagine the shit-storm if Lemmy dies and the other guys get a singer and continue on as Motorhead. Megadeth has always been Dave Mustaine and some other guys in the same situation if Mustaine would drop dead, except riots may been averted if Dave Ellison comes back and does vocals...but that's probably a big if. But before I ramble too off-tangent let's look at the bands that should've stayed apart.

Journey - Sure Journey here may be surprisingly but considering that they have been playing 10 years without Steve Perry it really shouldn't be. Steve Perry is Journey and without him it's just a Journey cover band with the some of the original members and Jonathan Cain even though Gregory Rollie's voice was awesome(listen to "Just the Same Way"). And worse they couldn't settle on a singer but it looks like that Fillipino guy who sounds just like Steve Perry is going to stay for a while. But he sounds so much like Steve Perry that I think that it is Steve Perry in disguise and it'll be so awesome if I'm right and The Fillipino Guy rips his face off revealing himself to be Steve Perry. Then we get Steve Smith back drumming and we have a full-on Journey reunion.

Foghat - Yeah, it's band with only the original drummer yay. First off, Foghat sucks and I hate Slow Ride. But a lot of people in the 70's were on drugs and they still remembered how much they liked Foghat even if it was a drug-induced a lie so Foghat continuing on makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that they are continuing with only the original drummer cause the singer and guitarist just happened to be dead! Stupid 70's rock.

Alice in Chains - I guess this is the most depressing cause Alice In Chains was Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell's harmonies. Listen to the vocals on Man in the Box, Would?, Rooster or Heaven Besides You and you can't deny that they had great chemistry that can't be replaced. Granted I haven't heard William DuVall sing but I just can't buy into it. I was happy when it was first announced saying "Oh we're going to tour and then we're going to change the name." I would think that would be cool but they lied! They're recording an album under the AiC name! That's just low.

  1. Hey, it's mkratzer21 from the ReelViews forum.

I agree completely with Journey. Like I keep telling my wife, no Steve Perry, no Journey. Of course, she hated them even when Steve Perry was in the band...

Alice in Chains needed to die with Layne Staley. William DuVall isn't terrible, but he doesn't have the chops to pull off the songs. Here's footage of him with AiC a few years ago.
