The Davinci Code and Angels and Demons - A micro Review

Tonight I was going to get into a elaborate review of both these movies that I took the time to watch on one of my days off. But it's 2:30 am, and I got to get to work tomorrow, so here's the skinny:

The Davinci Code, where Tom Hanks must uncover a mystery hidden by a string of Catholic-based murders. The film has good acting, production values, and a very interesting story. Where it almost falls apart on me was the copious amount of flashback/back-story they had to do to bring the audience up to speed with Tom Hanks. Albeit this was necessary, but a risk non the less. The Ian Sir Ian McKellens' twist was pretty awesome, but I saw the girl coming for almost a mile away. Be warned, if your heavily religious, you might not like this, or the next movie, so much. On a side note, it seemed like a lot of things happened in this film.

Angels and Demons, the sequel to the prior film, takes place not long after the first, since the religious groups are very much aware of the shenanigans going on during the first movie. Tom Hanks must figure out religious clues at the Vatican to stop for bishops from being murdered, and the city being destroyed by Antimatter (look it up). Again, great acting, production values, and writing. Plot twists actually caught me right on the nose. A pleasant surprise. However, the story was a little lacking in comparison to the previous one, not having to go into so much background was a good thing, but comparing the two films in that capacity is almost comparing apple and oranges.

And that's my take on these two films. They're good films to watch, unless your super religious, then you might want to boycott the movie - oh wait, they already tried that one. Enjoy the movie for what it is... a movie.
